At 3:30pm,
this year’s featured artist, the international singing group, Gaia Women of the
Great Lakes Basin, will perform inside the Pontiac Creative Arts Center.  Comprised of women from Canada and the United
States, they share a joy of singing and a love of the earth.  Carolyn McDade, a singer, musician and artist
in her own right, is the group’s primary composer, and identifies herself as an
activist.  Her compositions have strong  environmental, ecological, and social justice components.  Those themes are the foundation for the Gaia
group and are their reason to gather, sing and participate.

Also on
display at the Pontiac Creative Arts Center will be, “All Beings Confluence,”
an international collaboration of McDade and Martha Cole, a fiber artist from
Saskatchewan, Canada.  Banners, made of

sheer fabric and paint, capture the elements of the earth that Gaia women love
and want to preserve.  The banners
symbolize the interrelation of all beings, and are never displayed individually.
