Lake Orion Schools Closed Due to Icy Roads

After a night of rain mixed with snow, Lake Orion Community Schools pre-emptively made the call to close schools today due to icy road conditions.

St. Joseph Catholic School and Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Lake Orion followed suit, according to WXYZ.

Hazardous weather outlook

This morning the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook alert in Oakland County with thunderstorms forecasted through early afternoon.

Pea size hail is possible, along with heavy downpours and up to 25 mph winds throughout the day. Winds will get stronger as the temperature drops throughout the day and rain showers are predicted to turn into snow showers.

The forecasted high for the day will be near 46 degrees, dipping down to 26 degrees at night. Snow accumulation will be less than one inch.
