Pitch Your Hazardous Waste Properly Starting This Weekend

Community members can drop off hazardous waste items Saturday in Oxford.

The North Oakland Household Hazardous Waste Consortium (NO HAZ) is hosting its first collection event this Saturday at Oxford Middle School (1420 Lakeville Rd. in Oxford).

As member communities Lake Orion, Orion Township and Oakland Township residents can bring their hazardous waste to the event and safely dispose of the items. The cost to drop off the waste is $10 per car; checks and cash will be accepted.

In preparation for the NO HAZ events, area students were able to enter their artwork symbolizing the need to be green to the NO HAZ poster contest. The top three entries were made into posters advertising the upcoming collection events. Carpenter Elementary School fifth grade students Itzel Portillo and Josh Smielewski won first and second place respectively in the poster contest.
