Poll: Are You Satisfied With Township's New Recycling Plan?
Board of Trustees wants residents to take advantage of curbside options.

Instead of paying for recycling bins to be set up once a week behind the , the Oakland Township Board of Trustees is requesting that residents talk to their respective trash haulers about curbside recycling.
Beginning in February, once a month Waste Management will bring a compactor truck behind the Oakland Township Substation as opposed to every week. The on the new recycling plan Tuesday at , hope residents will set up their curbside recycling as soon as possible.
The change in the township's recycling plan is projected to save more than $20,000 per year. Board member Kathrine Thomas, who has done the recycling research over the past year, noted there are six contracted trash haulers operating in Oakland Township and only one of them does not offer recycling services. On top of that, the majority of those companies offer it for free.
