Poll of the Week: Does Oakland Township Need a Senior Center?
Many residents opposed to the Blossom Ridge project still think there is a need for senior living. Do you?

Since summer, the Oakland Township Planning Commission has debated whether or not to recommend approval of a 282 unit senior living community called Blossom Ridge.
On Tuesday, Moceri Development was granted the next phase of development when the , recommending approval to the Board of Trustees. The fact that the project is planned for the northwest corner of Adams and Dutton roads has brought residents to meetings to protest due to traffic concerns. Other concerns, such as the density of the project and whether or not it is in line with the character of Oakland Township, have been raised as well.
Regardless of the arguments against the project, many members of the community who have stated their opposition have agreed there is a need for a senior living community in Oakland Township.

“Many of us residents do not object to a senior development; in fact we embrace it … we embrace the whole concept,” Bob Sirna, member of the , said at the meeting Tuesday.
