Repeat Offender Caught Shoplifting at Kohl’s

Also, a break-in was reported in Oakland Township.

A woman who admitted she spent two years in prison for retail fraud was caught stealing $1,400 worth of merchandise Dec. 8 from the Kohl’s store on Baldwin Road in Orion Township.

The 43-year-old Pontiac resident was trailed out of the store by security personnel and met in the parking lot by an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy as she was loading bags into her car. She was arraigned the next day in 52-3 District Court.

Break-in

A Gallagher Rd. resident reported Dec. 3 that her home was entered while she was out and a computer and jewelry box were stolen.

The woman said the incident occurred between 2-3 p.m. while she was out shopping. The house was unlocked and the alarm was off. The thief got in through the garage.

Drunk-driving accident

A 22-year-old Oxford man was arrested Dec. 9 after the car he was driving hit another car on Lapeer Rd. in front of St. Joseph Church. No one was injured.

A 23-year-old Lapeer man told police that he was driving when he saw a car speeding toward him. He tried to get out of the way but was hit. The Oxford man told police he was “obliterated” and blew a .201 on a breath test, more than twice the legal limit. He was taken to a hospital for chemical testing and then taken to jail.

Intoxicated teen

An 18-year-old Clarkston woman was taken to a hospital Dec. 9 after the car she was riding in was pulled over for driving without lights.

The woman was ticketed for being a minor in possession of alcohol and for failing to answer a summons on a previous warrant for disorderly conduct. Her brother, who was driving, was ticketed for not having a driver’s license on him.
