• Village council approves first reading of ordinance to make the village manager the village CEO (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion's Village Council has given initial approval to an ordinance that would make the village manager the village's CEO for Downtown Development Authority purposes and a voting DDA board member. The 4–2 vote shifts those duties from the council president, with a final decision expected at the Oct. 12 meeting after debate over resident representation and flexibility in appointments. 
• Dragon runners finish in second at MSU Spartan Invitational (lakeorionreview.com) — Lake Orion's varsity boys cross country team turned in a strong showing with a runner-up finish at the MSU Spartan Invitational in East Lansing. Several Dragon runners hit personal or season bests and earned medals, and the team then hosted the OAA Jamboree I at Lake Orion High School, continuing a promising start to their season.
