The Plymouth Community Arts Council has announced its lineup of art programs for spring/winter. All classes are held at the PCAC, 774 N. Sheldon Road, Plymouth, unless otherwise specified.
- Spring Break Creative Arts Camp: Tuesday, April 10-Friday, April 13, for ages 6-12. Class runs from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Cost is $65 for member, $75 non- member. Painting, printing, drawing, ceramics, weaving, theater games, and more are planned. On Friday (the 13th) stay for an extra half hour and join the PCAC Lunch Bunch for pizza, salad and cookies ($3 per camper if you want to stay. Lunch orders will be taken that Thursday at pickup). Returning are the pre-school art programs with instructor Lisa Howard.
- You and Me Together is an explorative art class for 2 1/2 to 4 year olds together with a parent or caregiver, and will be offered for 5-week sessions starting Wednesday, Feb. 29.
- Littlest Artist Studio, offered Tuesday mornings, is designed for 4-5 year olds who can work independently. Emphasis is on creative expression and experimenting with new materials and techniques. Five-week sessions of Littlest Artist Studio begin Tuesday, Feb. 28. Cost of either program is $80 per 5-week session ($65 for PCAC members).
New this spring are some specialized classes, including Abstract Painting Classes and Violin Lessons.

- Abstract Painting Classes run March 5-May 14, for 10 sessions. You may choose Mondays or Fridays, 4-6 p.m. The class is designed for ages 15 and older; all skill levels are welcome. No class will be held April 9. Cost is $100 for members, or $112 for non-members. Optional material fee: $18 to purchase two canvas boards from instructor. Artists may bring their own supplies if they choose. Brushes, pallets, and oils (limited) will be provided. Christina Evans instructs. She has a BFA from Eastern Michigan University.
- Violin Lessons begin Fridays, March 2- May 4, eight sessions. No class April 6 or April 13. Classes meet in the PCAC Artsco House, 5:45-6:15 p.m. Cost is $86 for members, or $96 non-members. There is also a $7 book fee. You may bring your own instrument, or rent one. Rental cost is $45 for a 2-month rental, including a violin with bow and case, and music stand. Hektor Qyteti, conductor, MPYO Sinfonia and MPYO Strings, will instruct.
Continuing this season are Drop-In Classes, including Pam Grossmann’s Drop-In Drawing & Painting and Jeff Burda’s Drop-In Pottery classes.
- Drop-In Pottery continues every Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the PCAC. You may drop in for only an hour, or stay for all five. Create masterpieces with hand building, coiling, slab building or use the pottery wheel, then glaze and paint as you like. Projects will take more than one session to complete, as the clay must dry and mature before finishing. Cost, which includes 6 lbs of clay, is $20/hour or $18/hour for PCAC members.
- Drop-in Drawing & Painting with Pam Grossmann will continue into the spring. Classes are available for youth and adults. Schedule and pricing can be found on the PCAC website.
