Belleville Candle, Soap Maker Finds Outlet For Creativity With Healthy Benefits

It's difficult to pass by Sheila Jager's stand at the without your coming to your senses.

If your eyes don't catch Jager's handmade soaps and candles, your nose certainly will.

But it's when you stop and talk with the Belleville resident and veteran farmer's market vendor that you discover that Jager's homemade creations may actually be good for you.

Jager offers eight varieties of candles and 15 types of soaps. All are hand-crafted and all are made from natural ingredients coming from herbs and plants.

But it's not like Jager just sat down and went to work. First came the research required to learn about natural products like the ones she offers each week. While there's no shortage of soaps and candles on the market, Jager made sure hers were unique.

"I try to provide a healthy alternative," she said.

After learning about how to effectively use natural ingredients, Jager went to work, allowing her creativity to take over. She developed a number of aromas, blending the natural herbs and plant components to create soaps and candles that have even been known to have medicinal benefits.
