Cleaves’ defense attorney, Frank Manley, told The Detroit News the suggestion of a second victim amounts to a “stink bomb” thrown by Lindsey, who is on loan from Wayne County to Genesee County after County Prosecutor David Leyton cited a potential conflict of interest.
Manley said he didn’t know anything about a potential second victim until the claim was made in court, but said that the suggestion is “unsubstantiated,” and that the prosecutor’s office has a “weak case” against his client and is engaging in a “smear” campaign.
Earlier, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy blasted what she called Cleaves’ clandestine “back-door arraignment.”

After his college career at MSU, where he was the hero of the Spartans’ national championship in 2000, Cleaves as drafted by the Detroit Pistons and also played in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings, Seattle SuCperSonics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
