Canton Bicyclist, 78, Dies in Crash
The driver of the vehicle that struck the bicyclist on Canton Center Road is cooperating fully with the police investigation.

CANTON, MI – A 78-year-old bicyclist from Canton who was struck by a vehicle on Canton Center Road just before 8 a.m. Sunday has died, according to police.

The bicyclist was transported by the Canton Fire Department to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release.

The accident, which occurred south of Cherry Hill Road, caused the northbound and southbound lanes of Canton Center Road to be closed briefly Sunday morning, but both have reopened.
The Canton Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was released at the scene and is cooperating in the investigation, according to the release.
