Canton Harvest Market Showcases Local Small Businesses

Locally grown fruits and vegetables and specialty products will be showcased when the returns for a special Harvest Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Michigan vendors will offer organic fresh turkeys in addition to a cornucopia of produce and homecrafted treats. Fresh turkeys can be ordered in advance by calling Garry Kuneman at Natural Local Food Express (organic) at 248-231-6533 or Starr Stennis at Boyer Meat Processing, 734-495-1342.

Once shoppers have stocked up for the big Thanksgiving meal, they can focus on decor: fresh or dried floral arrangements and soy candles; handcrafted soaps and gift baskets. (Other items include bee's wax, dog treats and pet shampoo.)

This year's vendors include Bobilin Honey, Boyer Meat Processing; Captain John's Smokehouse; Cellar Door Soap; ; Farmington Soap Works; Flowers by the Garden by Karen; Good Time Kettle Corn; Hand Sown Farm; Jam by Hand; JKM Soy Candles; Joe Sansonetti's Kitchen; Kapnick Orchards; MI Fresh Roasted Coffee; Mrs. B's Brittle; Natural Local Food Express; Nicky's Family Recipes; Pasta-e-Pasta; ; Sunbears Just Bones; Sweet Delights Bakery; T-Cakes Gluten Free; and Zingerman's Creamery.

Harvest Market visitors who want to help others can bring unused personal care items to donate to , a Canton outreach organization that provides food, clothing and personal hygiene products, along with job information, to families in Canton and 20 nearby communities. Needed: toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, soap, deodorant and other new personal care items.

The Canton Harvest Market is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in and around the historic Cady-Boyer Barn, 500 N. Ridge Rd., in Preservation Park. Chef Paul Penney is scheduled show market visitors how to whip up a holiday dish from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
