Neehee's in Canton Nears Reopening After Car Crashes Through Building

With Video: Indian food restaurant expected to reopen in 10 days after car backs through front entrance.

Neehee's in Canton is expected to reopen in about 10 days after a driver backed a car through the building's entrance on June 21.

Dipali Patel of Desi Pizza Curry on Crust, a nearby eatery under the same ownership as Neehee's, said the owners had been waiting on the OK from local officials to re-enter the building and for crews to begin reconstruction of the front of the restaurant.

That part, Patel said, should go quickly and customers who be able to return to the popular Indian food restaurant at 45656 Ford Road.

The incident happened at 5 p.m. June 21, Patel said, when a driver backed out of an adjacent parking space and sped through the front entrance.

The incident was captured on the store's interior security camera.

"Luckily no one was there," she said. She said one customer happened to be elsewhere inside the restaurant and avoided the collision.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

"Everyone's safe," she said.
