Canton Seniors Celebrate Earned Medals From 10th Annual Western Wayne County Senior Olympics
Canton seniors take home a slew of medals at the Western Wayne Senior Olympics!

Canton seniors represented their community well in the 10th Annual Western Wayne County Senior Olympics by collecting the most medals of any competing city or township. Canton’s Senior Olympians, who competed from August 18-22, led the way in participation with 100 competitors, gold medals earned with 42, and total medals received with 85.

Other communities competing in the Senior Olympics were Belleville, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Inkster, Livonia, Northville/Northville Township, Plymouth/Plymouth Township, Redford Township, Sumpter Township, Van Buren Township, Wayne and Westland. Westland finished second behind Canton in participants (91), gold medals (23) and total medals (77). In total, 566 Western Wayne seniors competed and won 483 medals.
Canton’s seniors are served by the Canton Senior Center, Club 55+, which provides year-round social, recreational and educational activities, and also serves as an informational resource for those 55 and better.
