Donald Trump Returning to Metro Detroit: How to Get Tickets

Michigan is one of about a dozen swing states in play in the race for the White House. Chelsea Clinton is also coming to Michigan Friday.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will campaign in southeast Michigan Friday at a 5 p.m. rally at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi

Trump’s visit comes near the end of the week of the first presidential debate with his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, and on the same day Chelsea Clinton is campaigning for her mother in Traverse City.

Friday will be Trump’s fifth visit to Michigan since winning his party’s nomination, a battleground state 16 electoral votes are at stake. Clinton hasn’t visited sealing her party’s nomination.

Pre-debate polls put Trump within striking distance of Clinton in Michigan, who maintains a slight lead within the margin of error of most polls. A poll average on RealClear Politics has Clinton with a 4.7 point lead over Trump. The most recent poll by the Detroit Free Press/WXYZ-TV, taken Sept. 10-13, gives Clinton a 4-point lead, but her lead within the poll’s margin of error.

Both candidates are concentrating heavily in swing states that could decide the election. Besides Michigan, they include Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Politico’s battleground states polling average favors Clinton over Trump, 43.7 percent to 40.9 percent.

It’s too soon to know if Monday’s debate gave either candidate a bump in the polls, but going into it, Trump and Clinton were running neck and neck.

Doors for Trump’s Friday event in Novi open at 2 p.m., and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis here.
