-Schoolcraft College and the Michigan Electric Auto Association (MEAA), announce their 3rd Annual Electric Vehicle Show and Rally, to be held from 9AM to 4 PM, June 11, 2011, at Schoolcraft College 18600 Haggerty Road, in Livonia, Michigan.

Last year’s event drew over a thousand people and 35 EV’s, including a Chevy Volt, a Tesla Roadser, a Ford plug in hybrid, a Th!nk, a couple of Wheegos, and a 1916 Detroit Electric, as well as a broad variety of conversion EVs, electric motor scooters and bikes, and several OEM production EV’s from the California EV-1 era.
The most popular segment of the show last year was the EV Autocross, where EV owners and drivers raced around a closed course and competed against the clock for trophies and prizes.

The event is free, and this year, with growth in the EV market accelerating, show organizers expect a much bigger crowd and more EV’s of all kinds, including quite a few brand new OEM-produced models like the Volt, Tesla, Smartcar, Th!nk, Wheego, and Leaf, along with unique conversions, two wheelers, and drag racing tractors.
As a Ride and Drive event, the public should come prepared to take to take test rides and drives around the large Schoolcraft campus .
Further, for those interested in more detailed information, several presentations will be given on the political, economic, and enviromental benefits of EV’s, plus the MEAA will conduct a workshop on doing EV conversions.
"Our EV show is the only event in the midwest, where, all in one place, the public can learn about all kinds of electric vehicles, talk to people who own and drive EVs, take test rides and drives in a broad range of EVs, and watch EV’s compete in an exciting solo Autocross race," says Larry Tuttle, president of the Michigan Electric Auto Association.
