
The Michigan Philharmonic and the Plymouth Canton Ballet Company present "The Nutcracker," the holiday classic about a young girl, Clara, transported to magical lands by the Nutcracker Prince, featuring dancing snowflakes, sweets and treats, and a visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy.
The shows feature two guest dancers from the Grand Rapids Ballet, Dawnell Dryja and Leonid Flegmatov. Dryja grew up in Canton and danced with the Plymouth-Canton Ballet, the Cincinnati Ballet, the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre of Detroit and many others. Flegmatov was born in Siktivkar, Komi, USSR, and has danced with many companies, including the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Russian National Ballet Theatrr and the International Ballet Company.
Performances will be 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 2 p.m. Dec. 4. A Sugar Plum Parade will take place following the performances, where audience members are invited to meet the dancers on stage. Parade tickets are $3 per person.
