Free Feline Friday - July 26 at HSHV

"Free Feline Fridays" has returned at the Humane Society of Huron Valley for a limited time, which means that every cat available for adoption over 5-months of age, will be free on Friday, July 19 & 26, 2013.

“We were absolutely delighted with the number of cats who found homes during our last “Free Feline Fridays” adoption special. The community really responded and we are hopeful that residents will come out again,” stated HSHV Marketing Director, Deb Kern. “Right now, we have at least 150 adult cats who need homes . . . more will be coming in tomorrow, the next day and every day all summer long. Many people come to HSHV to adopt kittens at this time of the year and that means our poor adult cats sit in the shelter much longer.”

Every cat ready for adoption has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested for feline leukemia, given flea preventative and given a microchip I.D., and you will also receive a discount for your first initial health exam at our HSHV Veterinary Clinic.

“Some people think animals should never be available for free,” said Ms. Kern. “Studies have shown that even though the adoption is free, families still understand that this is a commitment. All of our adoption requirements are still in place and our knowledgeable staff and volunteers are here to help people make the best match for the their life-style. These types of adoption promotions are successful and there is not a higher return rate.”

HSHV is open 7 days a week starting at 11 am for adoptions. People looking to see which cats are available can go to our website and view descriptions and photos of all the cats. The site is updated instantly throughout the day as animals are adopted or made available.
