Heise Challenges Price for Plymouth Township Supervisor

The Republican lawmaker, prohibited by term limits from seeking another term, says Plymouth Township "deserves better."

Republican state Rep. Kurt Heise said this week that he will challenge Shannon Price for Plymouth Township supervisor.

Price was appointed this spring to replace former supervisor Richard Reaume, who resigned amid a recall effort and retired to Florida.

In an interview with Hometownlife.com, Heise pledged greater openness and a change in the direction of township politics if elected.

“I think Plymouth Township deserves better than we have now,” Heise told the newspaper.

He has been critical of the decision by the Plymouth Township Board of Trustees to name Price to the position and said he is “out of his league.”

Heise, 49, is serving his third term in the House of Representatives and is barred by term limits from seeking re-election in 2016. He is the first declared supervisor candidate in next year’s race.

A lawyer, Heise is a former municipal attorney, and was previously the director of the Wayne County Department of Environment.
