Human Remains Pulled From Rouge River in Wayne County: Police

Police did not identify the body, but believe the remains are from the same person.

WAYNE, MI — Officials pulled human body parts from the Rouge River in Wayne on Wednesday and Thursday, according to police.

A kayaker found the human remains "tangled along the embankment" in the Lower Rouge River area near Pershing Street at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to police.

Officials pulled an upper torso from the river Wednesday night, according to police.

Officials returned Thursday morning and then found the lower half of the body in a nearby section of the river, according to police.

The body parts were taken to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation, according to police.

Police did not identify the body, but believe the remains are from the same person.
