It's Oberon Season: Here's 6 Places to Pick Up the Summer Brew

It's become almost as much of a summer staple in Michigan as Tigers baseball. Oberon, the popular Michigan-brewed summer beer from Comstock, MI-based Bell's Brewery, hit store shelves and local taps this week.

The wheat ale with a hint of orange and spices, which is distributed only in warm-weather months and has become a mainstay in backyard barbeques around the state, has been a popular summer selection for craft beer fans and mainstream beer drinkers alike.

Local bars such as celebrated the release Sunday night, with the beer tapped at midnight.

Here are six places where you can order or buy the beer:

The popular neighborhood bar in Plymouth's historic Old Village began serving the beer at a Sunday night release party.

The Box Bar & Grill in downtown Plymouth had posters up this week advertising the release of Oberon in addition to its more than 600 available beers.

Belly Buster's at Mill and Ann Arbor Trail in Plymouth sells a variety of craft beers, mostly from Michigan, and Oberon is a staple on the store's shelves during this time of year.

A newly opened convenience store on Ann Arbor Trail in Plymouth, Trade Vine Market offers several microbrews, including Oberon.

The large chicken wings chain makes an effort to include several Michigan beers on tap year-round, and Oberon is a staple at all Michigan Buffalo Wild Wings locations, including Canton, during the summer months.

Readers reported picking up their Oberon at Mayflower Party Shoppe on Main Street in Plymouth. The store boasts a large selection of beers year-round.

If you're in the market for more locally brewed beers, and carry their own beers on draft. Liberty Street Brewing Company's "Clementine Lemon Thyme," its own summer beer, will see a release in late spring and serves as an alternative to Oberon.
