Man Allegedly Threatened with Gun at Motel
A Warren man claimed he was afraid a female friend would be raped by man at motel.

A 36-year-old Canton man told police the former boyfriend of a woman he met at a local bar and then took to a motel early Saturday morning allegedly threatened him with a gun early Saturday morning.
The man, a 31-year-old Warren resident, was arrested and faces possible criminal charges, The Canton Observer reports.
He told police that he had gotten a text from a 37-year-old woman from Ypsilanti Township, and he showed up at the Days Inn motel at Lotz and Michigan Avenue about 3:30 a.m. because he was afraid she was about to be raped. She reportedly had told the suspect the Canton man had driven her Dodge Durango to the motel because she was too drunk to drive after they had been drinking together at a bar.

The Warren man allegedly brandished the handgun after the Canton man returned to his vehicle after booking a room at the motel. According to the police report, the man with the gun ordered the other man out of the vehicle.
The Canton man told police walked away from the dispute to a nearby gas station and was in the parking lot when the woman drove up in her Durango, followed by the Warren man in a Ford Mustang.

Police were summoned, and they ordered the Warren man out of his vehicle at gunpoint. No shots were fired in the confrontation, and no injuries were reported.
Police found a 9mm handgun in the suspect’s Mustang, but both he and his former girlfriend denied the other man had ever been threatened. The Warren man was taken into custody pending possible charges.
