Masks Required in Plymouth-Canton Schools, At Least For Now
The requirement will go into effect on Thursday and last at least until October 31, regardless of vaccination status.
PLYMOUTH, MI—The Plymouth-Canton Community School District announced on Tuesday that all students, staff, volunteers and visitors will have to wear face masks indoors at all school buildings until at least until October 31, according to a news release.
According to the news release, the mask requirement will go into effect beginning on Thursday, regardless of vaccination status, while the district continues to monitor conditions and trends to best inform decisions going forward.
"As you know, these decisions are always extremely challenging - and while our mitigation measures will not align with everyone’s views and hopes for this school year, I can assure you that we remain dedicated to the health and safety of our students, staff, and families as our unquestioned priority," the school district said.

More school districts and other institutions are beginning to put measures into place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as cases rise in the state and across the country.
Earlier today, Dearborn Schools announced they will require a mask mandate in all school buildings until at least October 1.

According to the CDC Data Tracker, Wayne County remains in the "High" level of community transmission for COVID-19.
