12 Minors Arrested After Fight With Cops At Wayne Co. HS Football Game
One of the officers injured in the fights suffered a concussion and strain to her neck muscles, according to police.
WESTLAND, MI — Multiple people were arrested after a fight involving cops at a high school football game Friday night in Westland, according to police.
The incident happened at 7:30 p.m. Friday night during the homecoming football game at John Glenn High School, which is located on Marquette Street at Wayne Road.
While people were leaving the football game, multiple minors began fighting in the area, according to police.

While trying to break up the fights, multiple officers were injured, including one officer who was punched multiple times and another who suffered a concussion and strain to her neck muscles, according to police.
One of the officers who was assaulted also had their body worn camera stolen during the fight, according to police.

Police later recovered the stolen body cam, according to police.
Other officers from nearby communities, including Canton, Garden City, Inkster, Romulus and Wayne.
Officers arrested 12 minors in connection with the fights and were placed under arrest as of Monday night. Two of those minors are also facing additional charges, including assault and battery on a police officer.
Police were still investigating the incident to determine if more charges will be filed.
"Unfortunately, this problem is not unique to Westland as there has been a trend of issues at high school football games occurring in our region. The Westland Police Department understands the concerns that this incident has generated, especially for those that have children that attend these games," police said in a statement.
