Home Learning Highlight for May 1, 2020:

Honors Zoology, Salem High School

Juniors and seniors at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park in Joan Pence’s Honors Zoology class aren’t missing a beat working from home. This week they performed a virtual frog dissection. This lab consisted of an examination of muscles and bones as well as external and internal features of the leopard frog, an amphibian with similar internal features as a human. Students came away with an appreciation of the commonalities that all life expresses as well as the features unique to this group and their struggle to survive in their environment.

Ms. Pence created the class using Google Classroom and tried to make the environment as much like her actual classroom at Salem High School as possible. Students could actually see the specimens and hear their teacher’s voice describing these features. This helped students to feel more connected to the experience and learn more.

Home Learning Highlights will also be featured on 88.1 The Park!
