Peterborough took a 1-0 lead on a power play at 7:53 of the first period.  Quine - in the high slot in the Plymouth zone - found Martschini in the left wing side of the net and fed a pass, through traffic, to Marschini for the redirect.  Plymouth tied the game when Rickard Rakell stripped Quine of the puck in the high slot in the Petes zone and found Meurs breaking to the net.  Meurs faked a couple of times, the snapped the shot into the top shelf.

The Whalers took their first lead of the game at 5:08 of the second period, with the line of Aleardi, Andy Bathgate and Devane working well deep in the Petes zone.  With Aleardi on the right side of the Peterborough goal and Bathgate behind the goal, Devane was fed out in front and he tapped the puck into the empty net.

Peterborough came right back to take a 3-2 lead, scoring a pair of goals 0:54 apart.  Yogan set was up by Watson for a backhand at 6:49 and then Martschini found Watson at the hashmarks at 7:43.  Aleardi replied for the Whalers on a penalty shot at 9:31 after he was hauled down on a partial breakaway.

On the penalty shot, Aleardi scored with a backhand that went top-shelf by Peterborough goaltender Andrew D'Agostini.

That set the stage for Quine's game-winner in the third period.  Working with linemates Matt Puempel and Luke Hietkamp, the Petes played the puck deep in the Plymouth zone.  Quine scored from just outside the Plymouth blue crease.

Plymouth head coach Mike Vellucci pulled goaltender Scott Wedgewood with 1:15 remaining.

The Whalers kept pressuring and had three shots off a faceoff in the final 9.1 seconds.  All three were blocked by Peterborough defenders.

The Whalers had plenty of opportunities to score in outshooting Peterborough, 47-31.

Plymouth plays in Guelph on Saturday (7:20 p.m., www.plymouthwhalers.com).  The Whalers will play at home over the first two weeks of December, hosting Sault Ste. Marie on Dec.2, Guelph on Dec. 3, Belleville on Dec. 9 and Sarnia on Dec. 10.
