Home Learning Highlight for May 8, 2020
Pioneer Middle School Sixth Grade Science
Just because they are quarantined at home doesn’t mean Pioneer 6th grade students in Chantell Martin’s classes were excused from their science projects. Using what they learned about insulators and conductors, students were asked to design (build and test was optional) a fake Yeti or FETI. Those that built their coolers did temperature readings over time and used the data to make adjustments to their FETIs.

All students posted their designs on Martin’s Nearpod page once the project was complete. Nearpod is a student engagement platform that allows a teacher to create presentations that can contain quizzes, polls, videos, images, drawing-boards, and web content. These lessons are interactive and engaging.
The students had fun with this hands-on project and some of their designs were truly amazing.
