Road Rage Incident Leads Suspect to Canton Police Department

The driver followed the victim to the police department.

CANTON, MI — A road rage victim called 911 while he was trailed by another driver and then led the suspect to the Canton Police Department, a report said.

A 17-year-old driver told police he left Canton High School in his Honda Cr-V at about 9:50 p.m. Sept. 22, according to The Canton Observer.

The young man noticed a Chrysler 200 trailing closely behind him on southbound Canton Center. Even when he changed lanes, the suspect continued to follow him. The young man told police he was followed so closely at times, he couldn't see the other car's headlights in his rear-view mirror.

The two cars turned on eastbound Cherry Hill and then north on Haggerty. The young man pulled into the Eriksson Elementary School parking lot, and the suspect followed him. The suspect blocked the entrance with his car, and the young man was forced to drive across the grass to escape.

The young man called 911 and drove to the Canton police station, while the suspect continued to follow him, The Canton Observer stated.

Canton Police went outside and questioned the suspect, who was also a young man from Canton, age 19.

The suspect told police he was cut off on the road and wanted to confront the young man about it. The suspect was then given a reckless driving ticket, The Canton Observer reports.
