Boyfriend Charged in Double Murder of Southgate Mom, Son (UPDATED)

Antoine Terrail Beck, 33, faces 2 counts of first-degree murder and other charges stemming from the killing of his girlfriend and her son.

UPDATE (6:25 p.m. Monday, June 8): Antoine Terrail Beck, 33, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, larceny in a building and unlawful driving away of an automobile in the killing of Courtney Durr, 28, and her 10-year-old son, Samurai Das, according to a Detroit News report.

Beck’s probable cause hearing is June 12, and a preliminary exam is June 27, the report stated.

Beck was Durr’s boyfriend and had been living with her and her son at their Southgate apartment, the report stated. He is accused of killing the two Saturday, stealing items belonging to Durr and then taking off in her car, the report added.

Southgate police said the young appeared to have been strangled but couldn’t confirm Durr’s cause of death, the report stated.

A Southgate mother and her 10-year-old son were found dead Sunday, and a suspect in the killing was apprehended Monday in Dearborn, according to a News-Herald report.

The bodies of Courtney Durr, 28, and her son, Samurai Das, were found before 10 p.m. Sunday in their unit at La Colonnade Apartments, the report stated. Police say the two might have been killed Friday, the report added.

At a Monday press conference, Southgate police said the mom and son were killed in a “grave and violent way” by the woman’s 33-year-old boyfriend but didn’t give details about how they were slain, the report stated. The suspect also was not identified, but he is expected to be arraigned Monday afternoon, the report added.

Law enforcement agents arrested the suspect without incident in Dearborn, the report stated. Police said witnesses identified the man as someone who helped the mother move in and had been seen around the apartment complex frequently, the report added.

The suspect also was recently released from prison after serving a 10-year sentence for an armed robbery conviction in 2004, the report stated.
