Thanksgiving Traffic Fatalities Increase
Alcohol use was a factor in at least one of the fatal crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

Eight people died in eight separate traffic crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the Michigan State Police said Tuesday.
Two of the crashes were in southeast Michigan — one in Wayne County and the other in Macomb County.
The death toll represents an increase over Thanksgiving 2014, when six people died, also in six separate crashes. The travel period was Nov. 25-29.

Capt. Thomas Deasy, commander of the MSP Training Division, said the numbers are preliminary and only reflect those fatalities reported to the MSP as of noon Monday.
“The preliminary numbers show an increase in fatalities from this same holiday period last year,” he said. “The MSP continues to urge motorists not to drink and drive, to always use proper restraints and to drive safely.”
