Thumbprint Leads Police to Alleged Bank Robber

A latent thumbprint was lifted from a note passed during a bank robbery, leading to the arrest of a Romulus man.

An alleged bank robber’s thumb print could lead to his conviction.

Christopher Thomas Crowley, 29, of Romulus, was arraigned Monday on charges of bank robbery and cocaine possession after police in Livonia analyzed a note demanding cash presented to a teler the Citizens Bank, 31441 Plymouth Road, Friday.

Police said in a news release that latent print was lifted off the note and analyzed, then connected to Crowley, who was arrested in Inkster.

The bank robbery charge is punishable by up to life in prison. The two counts of possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine are punishable by up to four years in prison and $25,000 in fines. Crowley was also charged as a third-offense habitual offender.

Crowley’s bond was set at $1 million cash or surety during his arraignment. His probable cause hearing is Oct. 15, and his preliminary exam is scheduled for Oct. 22.
