Volunteer to become a literacy tutor and change lives

Plymouth-Canton Community Literacy Council is seeking dedicated adults to attend tutor training in October to become a volunteer tutor.

You can make a difference by volunteering 2 hours/week to help other adults learn to read, write, and speak English.

Plymouth-Canton Community Literacy Council is a volunteer, non-profit organization that provides free literacy tutoring in western Wayne County. Most students are learning English as a second language. Tutors work with adult students one-on-one, and in ESL conversation groups and classes.
We provide 12 hours of comprehensive training before tutors are matched with a student of their choice.
The next 2-part course will be held on

  • Thursday, October 13, 6:00 - 9:00 pm
  • and Saturday, October 15, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Fee: $40 includes materials, refreshments, and lunch (on Saturday).
Location: Starkweather Academy at Fiegel, 39750 Joy Rd., Plymouth, MI
No previous experience required. Tutors must be at least 18 years old.
To register for training, please call www.plymouthcantonliteracy.org.
