A popular Canton aquatics center will close for five weeks beginning Monday for a $700,000 renovation.

“I would say it’s going to be a lot better experience for the customers,”Greg Hohenberger, Canton Leisure Services operations manager, told the newspaper. “The facility will have a new, fresh feel to it.”
Several improvements are planned, including one guests have been clamoring for: private shower stalls. Other improvements include resurfacing of a children’s water slide, painting, and replacing large sand-filters with smaller, more efficient filters.

The makeover is the second-largest since the complex opened in 1996. A building expansion was completed in 2002.
Memberships will be extended for five weeks, Hohenberger said.
