New community resource center opens in Pontiac (theoaklandpress.com) — A new Community Resource Collective has opened in downtown Pontiac, offering peer recovery coaching, weekly meetings, life skills classes, eviction prevention help, and housing support for residents. Local city and county leaders joined more than 100 people to celebrate the opening, which expands year-round shelter options and behavioral health resources for Pontiac and greater Oakland County.
   

2. Pontiac resident reacts to recent string of gun violence: "Enough is enough" (cbsnews.com) — A deadly domestic-related shooting on Pontiac's west side is one of at least three recent shootings in the city, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized in custody. Shocked residents and Mayor Mike McGuinness say gun violence prevention is now a top priority, with city council set to vote on creating a dedicated task force this week.
   

3. Why Walk-In Mental Health Clinics Are Essential for Immediate Care (memesita.com) — A walk-in CNS Healthcare clinic in Pontiac is providing immediate, no-insurance-required mental health care that one local resident credits with saving his life. Staff streamline check-in, offer private assessment rooms and telehealth, and can connect patients with prescribers, giving Pontiac residents a faster alternative to crowded emergency rooms during a crisis.
   

4. 2 teens facing charges for 'ambush' fatal shooting in Waterford (theoaklandpress.com) — A 19-year-old Pontiac man is charged as an accessory after an alleged ambush-style shooting in nearby Waterford Township that killed a 20-year-old Detroiter. He and an 18-year-old Detroit suspect were arrested after a multi-agency investigation using license plate readers, search warrants, and recovered weapons, and both are due back in Waterford's 51st District Court on September 29.
   

5. Watch: Couple get engaged on stage during Sanguisugabogg's set this past Saturday (lambgoat.com) — Pontiac metal fans get their turn when the Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg tour hits the Crofoot Ballroom on September 25, part of a North American run with Crowbar and Left To Suffer. The tour just kicked off with a viral onstage engagement, and now brings that high-energy package to downtown Pontiac later this week.
