Ethan Crumbley Remains In Jail, Judge Sets Trial Date
An Oakland County Judge kept Crumbley in the Oakland County Jail during the 15-year-old's Thursday morning review.

PONTIAC, MI — Oakland County Circuit Judge Kwame Rowe ruled that Ethan Crumbley would remain in jail during the 15-year-old's brief Thursday morning pretrial conference. The court also scheduled Sept. 6 as a possible trial date for Crumbley.
Crumbley was charged as an adult with 24 counts, including four counts of premeditated murder and terrorism, after authorities said he shot up Oxford High School on Nov. 30, killing four students and wounding seven other people.
Crumbley was placed in the Oakland County Jail due to the severity of the crimes. His lawyers recently sought to have Crumbley moved to a youth facility since he is considered a juvenile, but Rowe denied that request.

Since Crumbley is a juvenile, his case must be reviewed every 30 days by a judge, according to state law. Rowe again denied the motion to move Crumbley to a youth facility. There were no further updates from prosecutors or the defense during the review conference.
Crumbley's next review hearing will be held on May 19 via Zoom, Rowe said.

Crumbley's parents were also in court this week seeking a reduced bond, which was denied Oakland County Judge Cheryl Matthews, who agreed with prosecutors that the couple pose a flight risk. The pair will also remain in the Oakland County Jail.
Jennifer and James Crumbley were captured by Detroit Police in a warehouse near Downtown Detroit after they went missing when prosecutors charged them each with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the deadly shooting at Oxford High School on Nov. 30.
Although the defense team told Matthews they will file a motion for a change of venue, Matthews set Oct. 24 as a tentative trial date for the couple.
