Former Adams Player Leading WSU to NCAA Championship Game

It's the first football national championship game for Josh Renel and Wayne State.

Former football standout will lead the Wayne State University Warriors in their first football national championship game next weekend against Pittsburg State.

The Division II championship game will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Florence, Alabama. It will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Wayne State is 12-3 overall this year. Renel, a senior majoring in business administration and marketing, has rushed for 1,343 yards and scored 15 touchdowns this year.

When Renel was a senior at Adams, the team lost its only game of the season in the state semifinals to Detroit King. He graduated from Adams in 2008.

Wayne State fans and alumni wishing to purchase tickets for Saturday's game are requested to go through the North Alabama ticket office, according to information posted on the Wayne State athletics website.  To order your seats online click here. All seats are reserved and priced at $20.
