Friday Night Rivalries: Your Guide to High School Football Tonight

Two homecoming games are on the schedule tonight in Rochester.

Here's an overview of the five football games being played by Rochester high schools tonight:

Stoney Creek vs. Southfield-Lathrup

(1-4) will bring in the Southfield-Lathrup Chargers (0-5) for the Cougars' 2011 homecoming game.  

The Cougars have played some tough opponents three weeks in a row and will look to snap their losing streak, drawing inspiration from the hype and alumni Friday night at 7 p.m.

Rochester Adams vs. Oxford

(4-1) hosts the Oxford Wildcats (3-2) in their 2011 homecoming game.  The Wildcats have had some impressive wins against the likes of Lake Orion and Stoney Creek.  

The Highlanders must win two more games to make the playoffs, and they will look to get some revenge for our area on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Rochester vs. Clarkston

(1-4) hosts a tough Clarkston Wolves (3-2) team.  Clarkston would be undefeated if they hadn't played , causing them to forfeit their first two games.

The Falcons are coming off a .  A tough away schedule has hindered the Falcons from a playoff run this season, but they are poised to win some games to finish of the season when players return from injuries, and they look to stop the Wolves in their tracks.

Avondale vs. Birmingham Groves

(4-1) faces off against a well-matched opponent in the Birmingham Groves Falcons (4-1), who are currently on a four-game winning streak.

The Yellow Jackets need two more wins to make the playoffs, and they only play more fierce opponents in the competitive OAA Blue division.

Lutheran High Northwest vs. Southfield Christian

(3-2) plays away against the Southfield Christian Eagles (0-5).

The Crusaders and look to continue their solid start to the season against a struggling Eagles team.  The Crusaders lost 28-31 in double overtime last Friday against Parkway Christian and will be hungry for another victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.
