Live Coverage: More Than 4,200 Finish Brooksie Way; Roads Reopen
A look at our minute-by-minute coverage of the race.
From the campus of to the streets of downtown Rochester to the gravel hills of Dutton Road, thousands of runners are traversed our towns Sunday morning as part of the fourth annual Brooksie Way Half-Marathon event.
Here's our live recap of the event, from finish to start:
12:11 p.m.: All roads are now open in Rochester Hills. Last count from the race website: 4237 finishers!

11:39 a.m.: The last runner passes Adams and Dutton. Let's give this person a giant round of applause! Of course. The crowds have been awesome.
11:05 a.m.: You just ran a half-marathon, what are you going to do now? Apparently, Starbucks is a prime destination. Starbucks at The Village is filling with half-marathoners, some still wrapped in their post-race blankets.

10:50 a.m.: Tienken Road still closed at Dutton, but now it's mostly walkers. Looks like it will be reopening shortly.
10:40 a.m.: First woman to cross the half-marathon finish line, according to the official race results, was Sarah Gryniewicz of Grosse Pointe Woods. The 22-year-old finished in 1:23:38.
10:38 a.m.: Captain Michael Johnson from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Rochester Hills station on the scene directing traffic at Walton and Adams.
10:15 a.m.: More on that marriage proposal: @BrooksPatterson has a photo on his Twitter feed. Not sure yet who the apparently surprised and lucky woman is! But she said yes! We'll have our own photo soon.
10:06 a.m.: Nonstop cheering and honking along Walton as pack of runners enter finish path. We are at 1 hour, 50 minutes.
10:02 a.m.: Tienken race traffic is still steady ... According to the race page, there have been nearly 2,000 finishers so far. The top time for the marathon? 1:11:59; 410 finishers so far in the half.
9:52 a.m.: Shane Logan, the winner, is understandably a little busy. Until we can snag him for an interview, here's what we know from the race registration page: 33 years old, and from Pontiac. Interesting fact: According to an Oakland Post story from a year ago, Logan ran his first Brooksie Way last year drinking a beer at every mile.
Keeping it real at 9:48 a.m.: At corner of Adams and Dutton, runner shouts "These hills suck" to Patch editor.
9:46 a.m.: You don't see this every day at a finish line! A man proposes to a woman as she crosses the finish of the half-marathon.
9:42 a.m.: The race results page now lists 5K results and times. We are checking on a discrepancy in the winner we had for the 5K – Jeff Martin of Bloomfield Hills – and the race results page, which lists Jeff Abbey of Shelby Township coming in at 18:11.
9:34 a.m.: Dan Adler of Rochester comes in second, about 5 minutes behind Shane Logan. We'll have times shortly!
9:32 a.m.: Shane Logan wins Brooksie Way - minutes before second-place finisher.
9:26 a.m.: Runner on Walton approaching finish ....
9:26 a.m.: Nick Gaydos of Rochester posts on Twitter @thynk: "Our kids are outside blowing bubbles to the theme of Chariots of Fire for all of the #BrooksieWay runners and walkers on the trail."
9:20 a.m.: Tienken, Brewster, Dutton, Adams roads are all closed. All roads are full of runners. We'll have a winner soon!
9:19 a.m.: First marathoner running down Adams now, headed toward finish at OU. There are 1,800 5K runners, and 3,000 in the half marathon.
9:13 a.m.: Runners greeted in Rochester Municipal Park to live music and cowbells from fans. #brooksieway
9:04 a.m.: Tienken, Brewster closed. Walton reopened.
9:02 a.m.: Half marathon runners approaching 8 mile mark on Tienken.
8:57 a.m.: Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett crosses the 5k finish line.
8:51 a.m.: University intersection closed. Half marathon officially across town.
8:44 a.m.: Jeff Martin wins Brooksie Way 5k. First half-marathoners are heading through downtown.
8:39 a.m.: Runners on Od perch and Avon now. Headed to Clinton River Trail.
8:34 a.m.: 1-mile run has begun. All runners are on the course (unless you were caught in traffic – we hope you weren't!)
8:30 a.m.: 5K runners are now on the course. @BrooksPatterson: "What a perfect day for the #BrooksieWay!"
8:23 a.m.: Half-marathoners are off! The race is under way.
8:14 a.m.: National anthem time - race starts in 1. #brooksieway
8:10 a.m.: Race start time now 8:15 for half-marathon. 5K will start 10 minutes after that.
8:05: Is it really 40 degrees?
8 a.m. Race start time has been delayed by 15 minutes now. Traffic congestion getting into parking lot on Adams and Walton.
7:50: Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announces a record number of runners: 5,100.
7:45: The race has been delayed 5 minutes, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office announces. Traffic jam on Adams Road.
7:30: Sun is rising over Meadow Brook Music Festival. Thousands are gathering to run and cheer.
