Three Go Forward: Adams, Stoney, Rochester Advance to Regional Cheer Meet (WITH VIDEO)

Falcons take first place in district competition Saturday.

There will likely be nonstop cheering — literally — across town this week as all three Rochester high schools advance to regional competition next Saturday.

took the top spot in district action at Lake Orion; the host team took second, and and high schools ended in third and fourth places respectively.

"It's like winning a million dollars, finally," said Adams Coach Courtney Kezlarian. Adams was in fifth place entering the final round of the competition. Their final score topped fifth-place finisher Troy by less than half a point.

The top four finishers advance.

"We've finally gotten the monkey off our back," said Falcons coach Susan Wood, whose team holds the record for the most state titles. Wood said they have struggled in the past year mentally, but she said they are finally in a place where they are ready to win.

Stoney Creek won the state title in 2010 and the Oakland Activities Association title last week.
