Police Seize Car Used In Deadly Oakland Twp. Hit-And-Run: Sheriff
Police found the BMW they believe was used in a crash that killed a 22-year-old Shelby Township man, officials said.
OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI — Police seized the BMW they believe was used in a Sunday morning deadly hit-and-run crash in Oakland Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Police found the BMW 3-Series sedan at a home not far from the crash scene in Oakland Township, officials said. Police also said they identified a person-of-interest, but haven't made any arrests in connection to the crash yet.
A 22-year-old Shelby Township was in the southbound lane of Rochester Road near Whims Lane when he was hit and killed by a car at 5:49 a.m., officials said. The driver never stopped after the crash. Officials were looking for a white BMW 300 series model between 2012-2019.

Officials identified the victim as Rochester High School graduate Benjamin Kable, who was a Michigan State University senior working on an electrical engineering degree and was home for the holidays, according to an obituary notice.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday at Kensington Church, 1825 E. Square Lake Road, Troy.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard credited a concerned citizen with providing important information, which led to the seizure of the vehicle.
"I knew the community would do everything they could to help us locate the driver involved in this tragic death," Bouchard said. "We greatly appreciate when people step up and I am optimistic that we are headed down the right path."
Police do not know if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. The speed limit is 50 mph on that stretch of roadway.
Officials were still investigating the crash.
