2 Royal Oak Seniors Named National Merit Finalists
Sean Tarr and Alexander Woznicki will compete with 15,000 other U.S. high school seniors for National Merit Scholarships.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Two Royal Oak High School students, Sean Tarr and Alexander Woznicki. are 2016 National Merit Finalists.
At ROHS, Tarr participates in Model United Nations, Chess Club, National Honor Society, Nature Collective, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. He is the son of Pat and Bill Tarr.

Woznicki plays the piano and violin and volunteers at Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak. At ROHS, he is involved in Model United Nations, Robotic Club and National Honor Society. He is the son of Lori and Tony Woznicki.
Only 15,000 nationwide finalists are chosen each year. These finalists are selected from an applicant pool of more than 1.5 million students and represent less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Students are named by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. based on outstanding academic performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Qualifying Test taken as a junior.
“That Sean and Alex have been selected as National Merit Finalists is an honor for our school and community as well as for these outstanding students,” Royal Oak school Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin said in a news release.
Added ROHS Principal Michael Giromini:
“These young men exemplify the excellence to which our entire school community strives. I’m impressed by their achievements, and am proud to have them represent Royal Oak High School.”
Both students are enrolled in Advanced Placement coursework, which gives students the opportunity to complete college level courses while attending high school.
As finalists, Tarr and Woznicki are among the academically talented high school seniors who have an opportunity to earn a National Merit Scholarship.
More than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
