Boyfriend Arraigned in Royal Oak Woman's Murder

If convicted of open murder and other charges, David Douglas Davis, 49, faces life imprisonment.

A Royal Oak man was arraigned Thursday in the murder of 50-year-old Theresa Diamos, who was shot in her home earlier this week.

David Douglas Davis, 49, was charged with open murder, which carries a penalty of life in prison; possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony; and firearm possession by a felon, Royal Oak police said in a statement.

Polcie said Davis was living with Diamos at the time of her murder.

Neighbors in the 800 block of North Altadena awoke about 3 a.m. Monday to the sound of gunshots. When police arrived at the residence, they found Diamos dead. Police said Davis initially claimed that an intruder had shot his girlfriend, but police said there was no evidence to support that claim.

Davis was arraigned in 44th District Court before Judge Derek Meinecke,who ordered him to be held without bond. His next scheduled court date is at 9 a.m, Oct. 23 before 44th District Court before Judge Derek Meinecke.

Police said Davis has a criminal history, including a 2004 conviction for assault with a dangerous weapon, a 2005 conviction for operating while impaired and a 2006 conviction for assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
