Royal Oak Man Guilty in Slaying of Theresa Diamos
David Douglas Davis faces a mandatory life sentence without parole in the 2015 slaying of his girlfriend in the Royal Oak home they shared.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A Royal Oak man was convicted Friday in last year’s slaying of his girlfriend at the home they shared on 800 block of North Altadena. He will be sentenced on Sept. 21 in Oakland County’s 6th Circuit Court, where he faces a mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole.
David Douglas Davis was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder in the shooting death of 50-year-old Theresa Diamos after a two-week trial before Judge Michael Warren. He was also convicted of two counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Neighbors called police to the couple’s home around 3 a.m. on Oct. 12, 2015, after hearing the couple argue and a loud booming sound that later proved to be the fatal gunshot wound that killed Diamos.

During the initial investigation, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team also responded after Davis claimed an intruder had shot his girlfriend and was still in the house, but police found no evidence to support the claim.
Diamos was still breathing when police arrived, but was pronounced dead after she was transported to a local hospital.
