UPDATE: Latest on Injured Trooper's Condition; I-696 Reopens
The trooper was hospitalized after a crash that occurred while he was stopped investigating another collision.

Updated at 11:05 a.m. SOUTHFIELD, MI — Traffic on Interstate 696 has returned to normal after a Michigan State Police trooper was injured in a crash that occurred while he was stopped to investigate another collision, the Michigan Department of Transportation said on Twitter.
The right lane of M-10 was closed so HAZMAT crews could clean up a fuel spill that occurred when the trooper's vehicle was struck during an accident investigation Monday morning.
The extent of the trooper's injuries aren't known, but State Police said on Twitter that he would be admitted to the hospital with five broken ribs.
