Woman Who Shot Lover Over Bad Sex Headed to Prison
Oakland County prosecutor questioned why a defendant with Sadie Bell's criminal history – they say she shot her former husband in 1991 – was allowed free in the first place.
Sadie Bell, the 58-year-old Southfield woman who shot her lover over his poor sexual performance, will be sent to prison to begin serving her sentence on an assault conviction after the Michigan Appeals Court revoked her appeal bond.
Bell, who was convicted in April of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, was freed from jail last week after Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Phyllis McMillen set bond at $10,000.
Prosecutors sought an emergency appeal and said someone with Bell’s criminal history shouldn’t be roaming the streets, the Detroit Free Press reports. Though she was not convicted, prosecutors said Bell also shot her husband in 1991.

“We were very concerned,” Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Bell said. “It made no sense to us, and the court of appeals agreed with us.”
McMillen said in her decision to release Bell from jail pending resolution of her appeal that she didn’t think the defendant posed a threat to society.

After her conviction in April, Bell was sentenced to 20 months to 10 years in prison, including two years mandatory time on a gun charge.
She shot her longtime married lover, Edward Lee, 60, in the stomach with a Smith and Wesson handgun she kept in the bathroom, injuring his colon and pancreas, after an unsatisfying lovemaking session in her apartment last July
She was reportedly upset that Lee did not ejaculate enough and thought that was evidence that he had been cheating.
Bell is expected to present herself to corrections authorities within days, the newspaper said.
