1. Panthers, Bulldogs and Bays win big (sooleader.com) — High school football fans in Sault Ste. Marie saw the Blue Devils fall 51-6 to Gaylord, despite a 70-yard touchdown connection from Mason Garlinghouse to Dane Armentrout. The roundup also highlights big wins for nearby Pickford, Rudyard, Brimley, and St. Ignace, setting up key matchups for area teams this coming Friday.
   

2. Switchfoot Add Nine European Dates to 'Forever Now Tour' in 2027 (livemusicblog.com) — Switchfoot's Forever Now Tour is scheduled to stop at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie on October 9, bringing both their classic hits and new album tracks to local fans. The show is part of a 38-city U.S. run before the band heads to Europe in early 2027.
   

3. LSSU researchers refine genetic method for determining sex of sturgeon (dailypress.net) — Researchers at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie have improved a genetic test that more reliably determines the sex of sturgeon, an important species in Great Lakes conservation. By adding an internal control to an existing qPCR method, the team created a tool that can better guide fisheries research, rehabilitation efforts, and aquaculture management.
   

4. Cedarville man arrested after crash injures three people near M-28 (9and10news.com) — State troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post responded to a serious early-morning crash at M-28 and M-117 that left three passengers badly hurt and a Cedarville driver jailed on suspicion of intoxicated driving. Emergency crews used a tourniquet at the scene before transporting victims to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, and the suspect remains held pending arraignment.
