UCS sets the standard for robotics
Four UCS robotics teams are competing at international levels after earning top honors at state and regional competitions.

Utica Community Schools is setting the standard for robotics, with four teams competing at international levels.
The teams are competing on international stages after earning top honors at state and regional competitions.
Each competition requires students to compete against their peers by building, programming and operating sophisticated robotics systems.

The four teams and comeptitions are:
- The Thunderchickens – a FIRST team based at the district's Instructional Resource Center - was on the first place team in the recent state FIRST
competition this past weekend and will compete in the international competition - Crevolution – comprised of students from the district's high schools – has qualified for the world FIRST tournament, drawing on the inspiration of a mentor who passed away this year at 27 years of age. The teams has dedicated its robot and season to mentor Mays Overton.
- A “VEX Robotics Team” from the Center of Science and Industry has qualified for the world tournament after earning the highest rating at state competition.
- A Lego Robotics team – the Crazy Pizza People – is going to a world
tournament this weekend. The team is comprised of members from
Crissman and Malow Junior High.
