Camp Invention set for Velocity Jr. August 5-9

Young thinkers will have the opportunity to envision, create and problem solve at Utica Community Schools’ Camp Invention, set for August 5 through 9 at Velocity Jr. in Sterling Heights.

Camp Invention, open to all students entering first through sixth grade, promotes interest in science by creating real-world challenges in units led by professional educators.

This summer’s Camp Invention program – Geo-Games – combines both physical activity and creativity.

Children practice teamwork, cooperation, coordination and creative problem solving processes during fun, active games. Geo-Games activities embody the concept that all games can be modified with nontraditional approaches and made more exciting.

Cost for the week-long program is $220 with discounts offered if parents register online. Space is limited and parents may register by calling 1-800-968-4332 or visiting http://campinvention.org/

Camp Invention is one of nearly 20 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) camps being offered at Velocity Jr., 38397 Gladstone in Sterling Heights.

Velocity Jr. is a partnership between the City of Sterling Heights, Macomb Community College and Utica Community Schools to create interest in STEM-related areas of study.
