One week in: Lifeguards return to South Haven beach after 25 years (wzzm13.com) — Lifeguards are now back on South Haven’s South Beach for the first time since 2001, a major change aimed at improving swimmer safety after multiple past drownings. Visitors and locals alike say the new patrols make them feel safer in the water, with more lifeguard chairs expected to be added soon.
   

2. South Haven Theatre Series opens season with ‘Michiganderish' (moodyonthemarket.com) — South Haven residents can catch the comic one-woman show “Michiganderish” on Saturday, June 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Listiak Auditorium on Elkenburg Street. Tickets are $15 with students admitted free, and can be purchased online, at the Visit South Haven Visitor’s Bureau, or at the door. The South Haven Theatre Series, a local nonprofit, is presenting the production.
   

3. Fifth Third Branch Closures Largely Bypass Southwest Michigan (moodyonthemarket.com) — If you bank with Fifth Third in South Haven, your local branch is not on the current closure list tied to the bank’s merger with Comerica. About 76 Michigan branches will be consolidated, mostly in Metro Detroit, but none in Berrien, Cass, or Van Buren counties. Southwest Michigan customers should see little immediate change in branch access.
   

4. Every Pride Festival in West Michigan You Can't Miss in 2026 (wgrd.com) — South Haven is on the list of West Michigan communities hosting Pride festivals in 2026, giving locals a nearby option to celebrate. The regional guide highlights events from May through early August, so residents can choose from multiple dates and settings, including lakeshore celebrations.
