1 Dead, 1 Hurt In Fiery Macomb County Crash: Police

Police believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI — A woman was killed and a man was injured in an early Sunday morning crash in Sterling Heights, according to police.

The crash happened at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning at the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and 15 Mile Road, according to police.

Police said a 54-year-old Warren woman was driving a Ford F-150 with a 30-year-old man in the passenger seat and was stopped for a red light at the intersection.

A Dodge Charger, which was being driven by a 25-year-old Detroit man, then smashed into the back of the pickup truck, causing both cars to ignite, according to police.

The Warren woman was killed in the crash, according to police.

The 30-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital after sustaining burns in the crash, according to police.

The Detroit man refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.
